Have you ever wondered how people get away with murderin the English language? Take “phat” for example. It is supposed to have some highly complimentary meaning, but since it sounds the same as an insult, it causes fights and sends people out in search of the best diet pills money can buy. I have often wondered if the inventor of that one only made it up so he or she could insult people and get away with it. And the people who accept and use this word? These would be the ones who do not have a problem with cutting a loud phart in public as long as it’s spelled right… even if people are passing out from the phumes.

You know, like everyone else, we carry a lot of insurance. Life, car.business insurance, we have it all. We just do not have the kind we actually need. I want to meet the guy selling the “your highly intelligent over eighteen daughter is still too dumb not to run off with some idiot she met on the internet” insurance. Of course, our premiums would be ridiculous because ths is the second time the same girl has pulled this little accident of judgment. Shame she’s still married to the first one, no?

I dislike hosting yard sales. Over the years we have had several… enough that Mom and I never want to see another price sticker. But… the kids want to have one, and believe me, we could use the cleanout. Over the years. the bigger stuff, pressure washers, tools, things like that, have already gone, so this one will be mostly toys, clothing, and baby items that the baby doesn’t need anymore. We’ll be having this sale sometime in Ju;y. Did I mention that I hate yard sales? (mutter)

We are sitting here tonight watching The Princess Diaries for about the fifty second time. We have had this movie around for so long that it’s on VHS. It’s a favorite of everyone in the family except Baby Mollie, who prefers to play piano on the little plastic four key instrument that my mother gave her for Christmas last year. At least she doesn’t appear to be turning into a couch potato like the rest of us… we will be following this movie with the sequel.

You know, between my daughter’s operation and preparing for the baby’s birthday, I sure let the work pile up around me. I didn’t realize how much until I sat down at my desk a while ago and saw it all. I’ve got book reviews, a Colonix review, a pile of unopened mail, an unfinished grocery list… you name it, I forgot to do it. Looks like I have a busy week ahead of me. It’s all been worth it though… my daughter is recovering well, and if you could have seen the precious mess the baby made of herself while eating her birthday cake…. ah well, you WILL see. There will be pictures later!

One thing became very apparent after the baby’s birthday party. We have a spoiled rotten baby. She got things I didn’t even know were on the market, everything but the kitchen sink… oh, no, wait, she did get one of those. It’s in her kitchen playset. What the heck are we gonna DO with all this stuff? There is absolutely no place to put it all!

It has been exactly one year today since Mollie Elisabeth came into this world. She has been here with me every single day of her life and I still can’t believe a whole year has passed. Teething, learning to walk, planning for her future, searching through life insurance comparison charts with her in mind, helping her learn to talk, it has all happened or is happening, and it still seems like yesterday when we brought her home with us. Gifted as she is, she can’t yet read this birthday wish… but someday she will, so… happy birthday, Mollie Beth. We love you.

Since her operation, my daughter has not been wasting her time. She has finished all the homework the teachers gave her, read a few books, and then read a few things to me as well, whether I wanted to hear them or not (I made the mistake of saying that I didn’t know what ma huang was and got quite a lecture). She even found the time to paint a ceiling tile for the school’s library. Her dragon looks identical to the one on the book that the tile is supposed to represent, and we are very proud of her talent!

There has been one interesting side effect of my daughter’s operation. Always before she was self conscious and didn’t want people to look at her. Now, she seems to have done a complete turn around. It’s nice seeing her begin to have a little more confidence and self assurance. She has always been pretty, but she never believed that. Since the operation, she has even stopped reading weight loss supplement reviews, since her so called fat tummy disappeared when her back straightened out. I am amazed at the change in her, I really am.

It’s been a bit difficult fitting in anything business related in the last couple weeks. This being MY life, means nothing is simple. My daughter’s operation, thankfully. went off without a hitch. However, trying to find a pharmacy on a Saturday that actually had the medications she needed added an extra hour to her travel time getting home… and yes, they insisted on releasing her on a weekend without giving her the medication to see her through Monday. And, to complicate matters, when she left the hospital, everything and everyone was fine, but between when she left there and when she got home, literally half of my household came down with the flu. In the end, she was the only one who did NOT get it. So, between distributing chicken broth and doling out Tylenol, it’s been pretty hard concentrating on Total Merchant Services. Maybe things will slow down a bit this week!
