Welcome back!

Hey, have you guys discovered all the old television series available for sale by the season yet? We sure have. I know they have most of the current ones too, but I mean the GOOD stuff. We have developed quite a collection of it over the last three or four years. Things like The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Bewitched, that kind. It’s great for the kids, too. They love these old shoes, and it really helps being able to have them happy to watch something with at least SOME hint of morality in it, minus all the blood and guts and sex. We just completed our Quantum Leap collection last year, and now we are working on several others. It’s not just the kids, either… watching old time tv lifts MY spiritss like you wouldn’t believe, too. See you in a while… the kids want to watch a few episodes of the Full House set one of my daughters got for Christmas, and I don’t wanna miss it:)

With Christmas behind us now, it’s time to brace myself for New Year celebrations. For that, I don’t get so excited. When I was younger, maybe, but not these days. These days, we all sit around playing Trivial Pursuit until we all feel sufficiently stupid, give three cheers at midnight, and then go to bed. It’s a great life:)

When I was a little girl, I do remember that my parents used to celebrate it every year in a big way. To be honest, though, what I remember most about it was that when my dad put on his black suit and diamond cufflinks, I got a babysitter. Not exactly what dreams are made of, here.

In any event, I hope everyone out there has a fun and safe New Year’s Eve:)

You know, immediately after I uploaded that last post, it occurred to me that probably the last thing I need right now is a buffet, hamburger or otherwise. Having just made it through both Thanksgiving and the Christmas cookie season, the best thing I could do right now would be to pull out the hoodia patches and shop for cottage cheese. I’m afraid to get near the scale. Last time I did, it offered me a multi user discount, if you get my meaning. But with all these leftover cookies lying around, what’s a person to do?:)

Over the last few years, much to the chagrin of my waistline, “all you can eat” style buffets have been popping up everywhere. They seem to offer everything from pizza to fish to down home cookin’. But there is ONE thing I have never seen on one of these buffets, and it’s the one thing my family would probably go nuts over. Hamburgers. Really. If they can cry about the price of catfish yet offer it on a buffet, why not hamburgers? (McDonald’s dollar menu doesn’t count!) Okay, that’s all I have to say on it. I think I’m hungry:)

Plush Robes

Now that Christmas is over, and you aren’t having to worry about pampering everyone else in your life, isn’t it time to take a few moments to pamper yourself? After all the hustle and bustle of fighting through the holiday crowds to find that perfect gift, and then wrapping it just so, and then making sure that the person received it on time… don’t you deserve it? The beautiful luxurious hooded bath robe pictured here is just one of the offerings from Plush Robes that can help you do just that.

Their selection of Women’s Bathrobes and Terry Robes are second to none. Wearing one of these can make you feel like you are a celebrity in a high cost resort, even if you never leave your own bedroom. Every product they carry is tested for quality and comfort before they even offer that style for sale. The prices are great, and they never, EVER charge for shipping. How can you find a better deal on a robe of this quality?

The answer to that question is, you can’t. Not anywhere. Plush Robes is a highly specialized place that concentrates on one type of product, and they do a much better job of providing that product than a more diversified store could. To find the style that is perfect for you, just click through any of the links in this post!

I trust everyone had a great Christmas! Now that it’s over for another year, there is just one thing left to wonder… what am I gonna DO with all this stuff? No one here (including me) ever takes into account that the house is already too full of stuff when they go Christmas shopping. We are going to make it this year, but I can foresee a time coming when it is going to be a choice between housing the stuff or housing ourselves. Maybe I ought to start saving up to build a new house….

Merry Christmas, everybody. I hope everyone is having a great time today. Around here, the excitement has died down somewhat, and people are relaxing. We do the gift opening thing on Christmas Eve Day, so that no one winds up on the road on the actual holiday. With nine people around, and my tendency to go overboard (my sister has the same tendency) it takes all day, too.

I tend to spend Christmas day remembering Christmases of the past. Things have sure changed a lot over the years. When I was a little girl, we did things a lot differently. We lived up in Davenport, Iowa, back then, and most of our close relatives lived nearby. On Christmas Eve, my parents would load up the car with all the gifts for the various aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, and off we would go, taking time to see the light displays along the way. In our neighborhood, the best show was old Mr. Hinkley lighting up the whole neighborhood with his decorated house, complete with a manger scene in his front yard. At every stop we made on Christmas Eve, there were cookies, punch or eggnog, and lots of laughing and Christmas carols.

Modern Christmases, I am sad to say, can’t hold a candle to childhood memories. All but one of my aunts has passed on now, and all of my uncles. The cousins and friends are scattered across the United States. I can only hope they are taking the time today to remember and enjoy what we once had.

Happy holidays.

Hey, do you guys want to see what happens when you ask your eighteen year old daughter to help you out by reciting a commercial you wrote? I got a chance to do an online commercial about the memory foam mattress collection at BedInABox.com, but I wasn’t about to put MY ugly mug on here, so…. what follows is my daughter’s acting debut. When you finish watching the commercial, you really should check out BedInABox.com. They have those incredibly comfortable memory foam mattresses that mold to you. Sort of like a firm waterbed without all the hassles and expense!

I am almost done Christmas shopping, just need to pick up a few odds and ends yet. You’d think I would be happy, wouldn’t you? But, the fact is, as soon as I finish Christmas shopping, I am going to have to start scouting the stores for baby furniture. My first grandchild is due in April, and with it’s mother trying to juggle tuition and living expenses too, she needs all the help she can get. Shopping for baby furniture means that I have to remember everything I have forgotten… things like measuring the distance between slats on a baby cribs, for example. I learned a long time ago not to just assume that the manufacturers had my best interests in mind, even when it comes to infant supplies. It’s gonna be a long year.

Have you ever tried to come up with a decent internet connection when you live in the sticks? Let me tell you, it’s not fun. When internet access became available here, MUCH later than in MOST of the civilized world, we had one choice… the phone company. If you didn’t like the service, or the two hour wait for their help desk to take you off hold, tough. And THAT was for dial up service. Finally, another company also started offering dial up, and for a while they were great… right up till thy started censoring our email. If THEY decided it was spam, you never even SAW it, and if they accidentally trashed an important email… it didn’t happen, according to them. So… now our phone company is FINALLY offering DSL service here, though not the superfast version most of you have already had for years. Still, once we figured out what a wireless router was, we really liked it. It’s been nice… makes us almost feel like the world thinks we are human. Sort of. We still don’t have cable.
